Chef's Profile:


Chef Sina Molavi has been the man in charge of the kitchen at Occasions Catering since 1994. Occasions is recognized for exceptional creativity and world class cuisine having produced some of the finest food the Washington,DC area can ever remember. Occasions caters exquisite small gatherings and major events as well.

At Occasions, Chef Sina Molavi, leads a team of 30 highly-trained chefs, working in a 9,000 square foot state-of-the-art kitchen. Chef Molavi seems quite at home, turning out just the right fare for each event’s unique requirement. Sina and his pastry chef Martin Frowd recently were invitees to cook at the James Beard House in New York as part of a Bastille Day celebration.

Sina Molavi grew up in England, and worked in his mother-in-law’s Italian Restaurant kitchen. After stints with renowned chefs, Bill McNamee at Café deBec Fin in Connecticut and Yannick Cam at the Le Pavilion here in Washington, Sina was well prepared to assume the catering challenge at Occasions. He looks forward to exploring new opportunities to take advantage of the talented crew at Occasions Catering.

When Sina is not at work he continues to enjoy sports, biking and running. His supreme adventure is his partnership with his wife and their involvement in the joy of raising two children.
