---Executive Chef Chris Berger
----Out of Fire, Easton, Maryland

Executive Chef Chris Berger was born and raised on the Eastern Shore of Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay. Saturday night dinners at his great grandmother’s house were an early childhood favorite, since she grew and raised all of the ingredients for those memorable meals herself.

Chris has always had a love for the arts and after a career in graphic design; he found his real love for art was best expressed in the kitchen. He’s worked in the kitchen of many of the finest Eastern shore restaurants. Starting as a self-taught prep cook, Chris first worked at Legal Spirits in Easton. He worked his way up and secured a position in the elegant kitchen of Bistro St. Michaels, in bucolic St. Michaels, Maryland.

Chris is the fourth Chef to man the helm of Out of the Fire in Easton, Maryland. Out of the Fire, owned by Amy Haines, opened its doors in 2002 to rave reviews. Chris says that Amy has an awesome personality and has very generously allowed him to work his magic on the menu. Chris’s palate leans to Asian food and many of the new offerings on the menu are his creations.

With Saturday and Sunday nights off, (yes, you read correctly) Chris spends his free time hanging out with his Australian Cattle dog, Bansky, and in Washington, DC with his girl friend, Jen, dining in some of the Nations Capitol’s best restaurants. Other favorites are the eclectic restaurant choices in Annapolis, Maryland. Whenever he can, he stops into Tsunami on West Street and orders their Yomato’s Tofu, a fiery blend of secret ingredients mixed with tofu which he says is just addicting.

Hurry into Out of the Fire, because Chris is heading to Tampa, Florida come September, to follow his girl friend in as she continues her education in Public Health.
