Why Shop Local Goods

Choosing local goods is a true game-changer. Not only do you enjoy exceptional freshness and quality, but you also actively support local farmers and businesses. Every purchase contributes to sustaining local economies and preserving the livelihoods of hardworking farmers who are the backbone of our communities.

Local goods are the freshest catch of the day—every day! Unlike products that travel long distances, local goods are harvested at their peak freshness and reach your table faster. The result? Flavor that’s off the charts and nutrients that pack a healthy punch for you and others! But wait, there’s more! By choosing local, you’re also giving a high five to the planet. Shorter trips mean fewer emissions, making this a green decision for a brighter, more sustainable future. So, why settle for less when you can savor the best and help the earth thrive at the same time? It’s a win-win!

Backbone Mountain

Jeremy Swartzentruber, founder of Backbone Mountain Maple, started sweetening lives early—he produced his very first batch of maple syrup at just 10 years old, yielding a humble three gallons. Fast forward to today, and his Appalachian Mountain operation in Western Maryland has grown to 400 taps, producing an impressive 600 gallons of artisan maple syrup each season!

Thanks to the high elevation and cool climate, these mountains create the ideal recipe for robust, top-quality syrup. Every drop is crafted under Jeremy’s watchful eye using a custom drip-line machine, ensuring perfection in every bottle.

This golden delight isn’t just for pancakes and waffles—drizzle it over French toast, ice cream, yogurt, or fruit, or stir it into coffee and tea as a natural sweetener. Plus, it’s a local powerhouse packed with minerals and antioxidants and even has fewer calories than honey. Now that’s a sweet way to enjoy nature’s goodness!

Bubba’s Sweet Nectar

We are honey over heels with excitement to offer Bubba’s Sweet Nectar, a delightful treat for honey enthusiasts! Two highly skilled Intensive Care Register Nurses, Christopher Keith, and Trey McGee started Bubba’s Sweet Nectar in central Virginia. Their friendship was one of brotherhood, calling each other “Bubba” as a nickname. They provide 100% pure, raw honey in primarily Clover and Wildflower varietals.

Clover honey is the classic go-to for its light and mild flavor, but if you’re craving something a bit bolder, Wildflower honey is your answer! Made from a medley of blossoms, it’s richer and tangier—a true taste of nature’s diversity. At Bubba’s Sweet Nectar, every drop of honey is 100% natural, non-pasteurized, and non-ultra-filtered, with zero additives or artificial preservatives. Their buzzing operation produces 500 to 1,000 cases per week while also supporting small local markets. As proud members of the National Honey Board, Bubba’s Sweet Nectar is dedicated to sustainable honey production, championing bee health, and protecting our planet. So, whether you’re sweetening your tea or drizzling on toast, you’re also making a difference—one golden drop at a time!
