A family business, built from the ground up.
Patrick J. Keany (father) starts PJK Company, a contracting firm for government and rail foodservice.
Marianne (Pat’s wife) and Jim (Pat’s brother) join the company, creating PJK Foodservice Corporation.
Kevin Keany (PJK and Marianne’s son) founds Keany Produce in the Florida Market of Washington DC, starting with one van and one customer.

Kevin’s brother Danny joins the team.
The operation expands to two trucks, with one route in Old Town Alexandria and the route in Washington DC.

Kevin’s brother Chris and their father, PJK, join the company.

The company expands to a 5,000 sq. ft. facility in DC.

Kevin’s youngest brother, Ted, joins the growing family business.
The brothers begin a precut facility to fulfill customer demands and stay on the cutting edge (pun intended) of a progressive marketplace. The first few products included snipped green beans and peeled carrots.

During the same year, their brother, Pat Jr., joins the team.

Keany Produce Company moves to a 45,000 sq. ft. facility in Landover, MD and increases distribution to over 70 routes.

Keany outgrows its facility and moves to a 90,000 sq. ft. warehouse across the street— Keany’s current headquarters.
Keany expands distribution to Richmond, VA with an 80,000 sq. ft. facility, called Emerald Isle.

Keany Produce Company becomes Keany Produce & Gourmet to encompass its growing product lines.

Keany Landover expands by an additional 20,000 sq. ft. of refrigerated space, totaling nearly 240,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space across all facilities.
Keany expands its operations with a third warehouse located in Roanoke, Virginia.
